Questions from dental offices
Setup is self-serve and takes about ten minutes. From $99/month; extra minutes $0.35, capped; 7-day refund. See pricing.
Is it HIPAA compliant?
Not yet. Our current plans do not include a business associate agreement, so we only recommend them for scheduling and FAQs with no clinical details. A HIPAA plan with a signed BAA is on the way.
Can it read our practice software?
Not today. It books into Calendly or a calendar with a private link.
Can it book new-patient appointments?
Yes. It collects name, contact and insurance carrier and books a new-patient slot from your schedule rules.
What about a dental emergency?
For swelling, a knocked-out tooth or severe pain it offers the next emergency slot and flags the call urgent; for facial swelling with fever or trouble breathing it tells the caller to seek emergency care.
Can calls be recorded in North Carolina?
North Carolina is a one-party consent state, so a participant can record a call. Callers often phone from other states, though, so Hazel still says "this call may be recorded" at the start of every call, the safe pattern for all-party states like California and Florida. You can turn recording off in Settings.
Will it book in Charlotte time?
Yes. Your line runs on Eastern Time, so every slot Hazel offers and every summary you get is in local Charlotte time. It answers around the clock, including the 127 hours a week a typical dental office is closed.
